FAQ

To avoid contamination, use the Spout Cap. If dirty water comes in contact with the Inner Press, wash the Grayl (not the cartridge) with soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Alternatively, dilute contaminants by pressing and agitating water through your GeoPress® Ti Bottle 5-7 times.

There are a variety of available methods to avoid cross-contamination during transfer of clean water into your Outer Ti Cup when preparing hot meals. Really depends on the environment you're in at the time you're preparing to prepare hot water. Below are the two most common methods.

Method #1. Purify and filter your water, separate your Inner Purifier Press from Outer Ti Cup; then wash your Outer Ti Cup with biodegradable soap. Disperse suds and lightly rinse with a little clean water before filling with clean water and bringing to a boil.

Method #2. Purify and filter your water, then separate Inner Purifier Press from Outer Ti Cup. Then dump excess water from Outer Ti Cup and towel dry the inside of the Outer Ti Cup prior to filling with clean water and bringing to a rolling boil.

The time it takes to press with your GeoPress® or UltraPress® will gradually increase over time. We recommend replacing the cartridge once the 'press time' reaches approximately 25 seconds (or three years have passed since the first use). Please note that colder water may require longer pressing time and does not necessarily mean the cartridge needs to be replaced.

Grayl® cartridges contains non-woven ceramic fibers that have a high electropositive charge. These fibers effectively block and trap microorganisms and particulates, ensuring that submicron contaminants are removed through electroadsorption. Additionally, the cartridge is equipped with ultra-powdered activated carbon, which efficiently adsorbs chemicals, heavy metals, bad flavors, and odors.

Proper maintenance for your GeoPress® Titanium is crucial for optimal performance. After your adventures, ensure to follow these simple steps to keep your purifier in top shape. Start with a 'dry press' by pressing the wet purifier into the empty Outer Ti Cup and disposing of excess water. Next, remove the cartridge and allow it to air-dry for 2-4 days. For the remaining components, hand wash them with warm, soapy water and let them air-dry. To maximize the lifespan of the cartridge, store the unit assembled. With proper care, the cartridge can last up to three years.

Trail Coffee Level: Unlocked – Perfect Addition to the GeoPress® Ti

"I grabbed the Coffee Press for the GeoPress® Ti and honestly it’s one of those accessories that just makes too much sense. It fits well, packs down easily, and turns an already great backcountry setup into a legit coffee station. There’s something pretty great about filtering water and making a solid cup of coffee from the same system while watching the sunrise at camp. Coffee came out smoother than expected with very little mess. Lightweight, simple, and now permanently living in my hiking kit. Great addition for anyone who takes trail coffee seriously. ☕🏕️"

"Great quality but dissappointed that the parts dont pack/store inside the filter very well"

No POUCH

"Thi is my 2nd grayl geopress titanium. I use everyday, now with the french coffee press is much better. For hiking is the best option. Coffee in the morning with the simplicity of the press there no competition for the Gray. BUT Grayl after see the bundle with other products you should include the pouch for store the Coffee press. To many losse parts can be lost. I make another order for purchase the pouch."

Coffee press

"High quality, works amazing! Delicious coffee anywhere you go!"

Ryan H. (5/5)

Fantastic little coffee device

"When I bakcpack, and coffee is a problem. It's such an important morale booster for me and my wife that I've invested quite a bit of energy figuring it out. This is the right answer, full stop. It's quite compact when broken own, doesn't weigh more than it should and is very effective at the most important thing: keeping grounds out of the brew. I was afraid that a lingering coffee taste would affect the Grayl Titanium Cup, but I can't detect it (5 presses in, on my kitchen counter). In short, I'm charmed. First Spring camping trip in 3 weeks!"

Travis M. (5/5)

Great addition to an already amazing product.

"The coffee press works great. The screen has the perfect perforation size to keep fines of coffee out of your cup. If using the right grind level that is. . . This is a much appreciated addition to something I’m already carrying in the backcountry thus streamlining my kit. Thanks for another amazing product grayl you’ve made a fan boy out of me and I will continue recommending products to friends and family."

Terry G. (5/5)

Not Appropriate to mix ….

"Used the coffee press then realized I’m using the same container I’m fetching contaminated water with. Sure I can boil the container sterile but that’s fuel and water. Then there’s the coffee grounds clean-up. Nope not for me, just use instant coffee and suck it up til you get home."

Tom P. (3/5)

Coffee Express!

"Coffee Press for GeoPress Ti integrates well and is easy to use. Makes it simple to use your Geo for more than one thing. . . reducing what you carry. Did I say coffee? Really expands the utility of the water system. Recommended if you like pure water AND coffee."

Dennis B. (5/5)

The best

"Simply the best portable water filter press of its kind, Titanium is virtually indestructible and the design enables you to convert it into a coffee press as well"

Andrew K. (5/5)

The Coffee Press works great!

"The Coffee Press works great! I’ve used it every day for the past couple of weeks. So far the gasket and screen have held up well and, no coffee grids get through. It is easy to clean and very packable. It only adds a negligible amount of weight to my pack. The only thing I would caution people with, is to not over tighten the stems together. I did that once, and I had to use two Gerbers to get them apart. Overall great product, I highly recommend!"

Q&A

When I attach my filter to the bottom of the drinking bottle, it appears to be a minor gap. I twist it until it locks, but I can still see daylight. Is that normal?
The critical seal is the smaller "red o-ring" on the topside of the cartridge. should not be possible for light to pass-thru the contact area between the cartridge and the inside edge of the titanium Inner Press. If you believe your connection is faulty in any way, please reach out to support@grayl.com and a product specialist will assess for you.
I have the original Titanium version will the coffee press kit with lid fit the original smaller titanium version?
Thank you for reaching out. It will not. The GeoPress Ti coffee press kit is only compatible with the GeoPress Ti bottle.
Will this fit and function on the original (non-titanium) GeoPress?
It will not. The Coffee Press for GeoPress® Ti is only compatible with the GeoPress Ti purifier bottle.
Will there be an ultraPress version? …Please? ^^
As of right now there are no immediate plans. We're stretched a little thin right now with the global supply chain disruptions and the burdens tariffs are placing on product development, manufacturing, tooling, and other associated costs. We've had to shelve some developments until things settle down a bit. :(
I'm looking at a titanium vessel, two part piston rod, lid and piston handle. Is that the unit for $50.00?, or do I need to buy the titanium vessel too. I'd like to have the can, piston assembly, lid and piston handle as a total unit.
Thank you so much for reaching out. From your description it sounds like you are wishing to purchase both the 24oz GeoPress Ti and the GeoPress Ti coffee press kit. Those two items are sold separately but are readily available on our website.
