"With careful prefiltering I get more than the 300 they say to expect. Sometimes I take the time to use a milbank bag, but I usually just have a cotton bandana held over the outer cup with a rubber band. The more you keep out, the longer the cartridge will last."

Replacement filter with valve.

"The replacement filter with valve that I recently received is not as efficient as the original products purchased. The valve does not work effectively, resulting in a small leak back into the water reservoir. I am unsure why, but it is inferior to the original product. I would like to include an observation that the customer service aspect of dealing with the replacement of a valve was not of a standard I thought the company would provide; it was distant, and a lack of communication, as well as information, was needed."

Hello, I am looking to replace the cartridge in my ultrapress, about to purchase one here but just wondering is it as simple as unclipping and unscrewing the existing one, and then attaching a new, or do I need to retain any parts from the old cartridge? Thanks!: It's as simple as unlocking and removing the existing cartridge and then screwing on a new cartridge and clicking into the lock position.
I found my Ultrapress in the cupboard and it had water in it. The water may be years old. Is my filter cartridge still good? I cleaned everything off but didn’t want to mess with the cartridge.: Since your filters have been improperly stored for a significant amount of time, they will 100% need to be replaced.
Why are you charging extra for the one way valve when you previously said it would be included with a cartridge as a standard feature ?: Every Grayl purifier bottle purchased from grayl.com comes with the one way valve as a standard feature. However, there are a lot of Grayl bottles out in the wild that do not yet have this feature, that is why we offer the valve as a standalone item, so other users can upgrade their existing bottles.
Will pre-filtering water with hollow membrane filter positively affect this cartridge rated lifespan and if so, than how many additional cycles could be expected?: Pre-filtering is a great way to preserve the lifespan of a Grayl purifier cartridge, but the maximum lifespan cannot be extended.
Why can the replacement filter not come as just a "filter" which can be fitted into the plastic housing? It's such a waste of plastic everytime you need a new filter. I want a filter bottle to save plastic waste, not make more.: Our current technology simply cannot be designed to work that way while still proving effective against protection of ALL waterborne pathogens (bacteria, protozoa, virus).
